Systematic Identification of High Crash Locations
Minutes of Project Advisory Committee Meeting - 2/9/00 - 1:00 PM
The first meeting of the HCL PAC was held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February
09, 2000 at CTRE. The individuals presented were:
- Tom Welch, Iowa DOT
- Mark Perington, Snyder and Associates
- Bill Schuman, Iowa DOT
- Reg Souleyrette, CTRE
- Ali Kamyab, CTRE
- Keith Knapp, CTRE
- Raj Vasavaraju, graduate student, CTRE
The purpose of the meeting was to select study topics. The following agenda was
completed:
- Study Topic Selection- The following four study topics were selected
by the committee members:
- Identify accidents on horizontal curves
- Identify fixed-object accidents
- Identify accidents at intersections along rural 4-lane expressways
- Identify head-on collisions due to crossing centerline
- Action- The research team will explore these four study topics to
determine the required tools and efforts. The PAC members will be informed
of the outcome.
