About the research
Abstract: The Iowa Department of Transportation was requested by the 1999 Iowa General Assembly to conduct a study of Iowa public policy regarding overnight truck parking. Due to time constraints, research and data gathering were limited to a study of national trends in public commercial parking and an investigation of how states around Iowa are dealing with this issue. Estimates were also made of the availability of and demand for overnight truck parking at facilities along and adjacent to Iowa's interstate highways.
