About the research
Research objective: CTRE will support the development and maintenance of the new CARS-Location module of CARS (Condition Acquisition and Reporting System). CTRE will assist the Iowa DOT in creating the location database for CARS using Iowa DOT GIMS (Geographic Information Management System) roadway and LRS (linear reinforcing system) databases, based on CARS business rules. This will entail manipulating existing and derived data sets, including both spatial and attribute data, through use of GIS software. CTRE will also identify and develop appropriate data creation automation procedures, develop quality control and assurance procedures, and document the CARS location databse creation work flow and QA/QC procedures.
