About the research
Abstract:
Safety Corridor Programs have been initiated and successfully implemented in several states in an effort to reduce crashes and improve safety in specific roadway sections that exhibit undesirable safety performance. CTRE at Iowa State University has teamed with the University of Missouri-Columbia to conduct a synthesis study of safety corridor programs. The research applied selected best practices identified from the synthesis study to selected routes in Iowa and analyzed the effectiveness of those measures on improving safety. Reports of the road safety audits are listed above. Road safety audits were conducted for the various highways described in those reports.
