Work zone safety final ruling published
The final rule for Work Zone Safety and Mobility appeared in the September 9, 2004, edition of the Federal Register (69 FR 54562); the effective date is October 12, 2007.
The update addresses the changing times of more traffic, more congestion, greater safety issues, and more work zones. The changes facilitate a comprehensive, policy-driven approach to work zone management and emphasizes the need to train personnel who plan, design, and manage work zones to keep them current on new practices and procedures.
