Student Publications
MTC Scholars, graduate students supported by the MTC, gain experience doing research and writing on transportation-related projects. Following is a list of peer-reviewed publications, with links to abstracts where available, that MTC Scholars helped research/write:
- Iowa’s Experience with “Road Diet” Measures: Impacts on Crash Frequencies and Crash Rates Assessed Following a Bayesian Approach (10 kb pdf) accepted for publication by the Transportation Research Board in 2006. MTC Scholar: Wen Li (shirley@iastate.edu), Iowa State University, Department of Statistics.
- Whether Weather Matters to Traffic Demand, Traffic Safety, and Traffic Operations and Flow, Transportation Research Record, (in printing). MTC Scholars: Manish Agarwal and Garrett Burchett, Iowa State University.
- Safety Performance of Rural Expressway Intersections, ITE Journal, January, 2006, pp. 28–32. MTC Scholar: Garrett Burchett, Iowa State University.
- Rural Expressway Intersection Characteristics that are a Factor in Reducing Safety Performance, Transportation Research Record, (in printing). MTC Scholar: Garrett Burchett, Iowa State University.
- Safety Performance of Divided Expressways, ITE Journal, May, 2005, pp. 48–53. MTC Scholar: Garrett Burchett, Iowa State University.
- Impacts of Weather on Urban Freeway Traffic Flow Characteristics and Facility Capacity, Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting Proceedings, 2006, on compact disk. MTC Scholar: Manish Agarwal, Iowa State University.
