The Midwest Transportation Consortium (MTC), in cooperation with the Iowa DOT, Kansas DOT, Missouri DOT, and Nebraska DOR, will be hosting this opportunity for the four states and local governments to share, discuss, and prioritize traffic operates and safety issues and ideas. These will be used to develop research topics and establish partnerships to advance highway safety and traffic operations in the four state region. The MTC will summarize the information and provide feedback to the participants.
Tentative agenda
9:00 – 10:00 am Registration and Refreshments
10:00 – 10:20 am Introduction, overview of the meeting and charge for the day
10:20 – 10:50 am Overview by state DOT representative of current activities in the region
11:00 – 2:00 pm Break into working groups/a working luncheon will be served
- Low volume and rural roads safety and operational issues.
- Freeway and Expressway safety and operational issues.
- Urban surface street operations and safety.
- Crash records and crash record analysis.
- Education, enforcement, emergency management, and incident management issues.
- Work zones safety and operational issues.
2:00 – 2:15 pm Break
2:15 – 3:00 pm Reconvene the group, present priority topics from focus groups and select high priority topics.
3:00 pm Adjourn
Two to four weeks later a summary report will be e-mailed to all attendees.
