MTC News: Year Five (2004) Semi-Annual Progress Report

Outreach and Technology Transfer

The MTC has been involved in two major outreach activities during this time period. These are noted individually below. In addition, MTC-affiliated faculty and staff remain closely involved in the activities of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Asset Management Task Force and the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Transportation Asset Management Committee.

National Transportation Asset Management Workshop

In 2001, MTC Co-Sponsored National Asset Management Workshop along with AASHTO, TRB , the Midwest Regional University Transportation Center (University of Wisconsin-Madison) and other organizations. This activity was a great success and was repeated in the Fall of 2003. This time, the workshop was held at two locations—Atlanta and Seattle—and attracted a large number of attendees from all over North America.

National Access Management Conference

The MTC is also involved in sponsoring, organizing, and hosting the TRB National Access Management Conference, which will be held in Kansas City, Missouri at the end of August, 2004. This long-running conference will attract about 300 attendees from around the nation and will have a number of sessions related to managing transportation corridors.

The MTC is administered by the Center for Transportation Research and Education.
