Call for Student Papers

Transportation Scholars Conference

Friday, November 7, 2008
CTRE, Iowa State University Research Park, Ames, Iowa

Who should attend

Students at all current Midwest Transportation Consortium universities are encouraged to participate as are students from Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. Both undergraduate students and graduate students are invited to submit papers for possible presentation at the conference.

What to submit

Papers are welcome on all transportation related topics, including transportation issues dealing with engineering, planning, business, economics, psychology, or other transportation related fields.  We especially welcome papers on topics related to the MTC's theme: Transportation Safety.

Review process

The papers are sent out for review, with the top papers being selected for presentation at the November 7 conference. All papers accepted for presentation will be printed in a compendium of papers and published on the MTC website. The conference presentations are also reviewed, and the award determination is made following the conference. Cash prizes of $1,250 and $250 will be awarded for the best papers written by graduate students.

The winning papers generally cover significant research efforts that typically include the collection of original data. Papers may not exceed 7,500 words (each figure and table counts as 250 words) and must be in the style employed by the Transportation Research Board.  Style guides can be obtained from the Transportation Research Board (pdf).
