Financial Aid
Research assistantships
Transportation students gather around research engineer Zach Hans (at computer) to discuss a problem. The Center for Transportation Research and Education employs more than 60 graduate research assistants.
Graduate research assistantships are available through the Center for Transportation Research and Education (CTRE), the Transportation Scholars program, and research directed by individual faculty. The number of appointments varies from year to year. Most decisions regarding appointments for the following academic year are made by March 15 of each year.
CTRE is closely affiliated with the Iowa Department of Transportation (also located in Ames) and many other tranportation agencies and companies and generally provides students the opportunity to work on practical research issues.
Other assistance
- Other financial assistance may be available through the Carstens and Ring Scholarships.
- Several CTRE research assistants have also received Eisenhower Fellowships.
- See Iowa State University's Office of Student Financial Aid website for information about other financial aid opportunities.
