Problem Statement
The Kansas Department of Transportation identified the need to find shear transfer devices other than steel dowels.
Research Objectives
To develop a system, X-FLEX System, for transferring shear forces induced by wheel loads crossing the PCCP joints.
Research Method
The shear transfer strength was determined by making static tests using an MTS test system. The relative displacements across the simulated joint were measured using a displacement transducer which was clipped between 2 steel plates that were bonded to the different side of the joint.
