Problem Statement
WisDOT and our industry partners are currently seeking FHWA and IPRF funds for construction of a high performance concrete (HPC) pavement test section on I-90 near Tomah this summer.

Research Objectives
Details of the cross-section are still under development, but the following features will be included: HPC mix with required use of supplementary cementing material, restricted W/C ratio, and tighter than normal control of air content and aggregate quality requirements; stainless steel dowels; normal joints at 15 foot spacing on 12 inch thick pavement; Minnesota spec for high performance curing compound; tied PCC shoulders; open graded base course with drainage system; European style deep subbase with some type of select material. An adjacent control section with conventional design will be included.
