Stan Ring Memorial Library

Jim Hogan, LTAP Library Coordinator, can help you find the materials you need and offer technical advice.
CTRE boasts one of the country's most well stocked and technical Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) libraries. The Stan Ring Memorial Library's mission is to share information about the latest transportation-related technology with local transportation professionals. Users may order publications, videos, and other library materials online.
Library holdings
The library carries over 1,500 publications, 650 videotapes, 16 sets of slide presentations, and transportation training materials on compact disk (CD) to be used on any of five interactive compact disk (CD-I) players.
The CD-I materials offer individual, interactive computer training in a variety of subjects. They must be used with special CD-I players. CD-I players and training materials are available for loan for one month through the LTAP library.
The majority of LTAP library materials are produced by the FHWA. Others are produced by associations like the American Traffic and Safety Association, the Concrete Paving Association, the Asphalt Paving Association, and the National Association of County Engineers. The library also carries many Iowa Highway Research Board publications, AASHTO manuals, over 150 Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP) publications, and CTRE reports and other publications.

The library also provides a free referral service. For help finding information on specific transportation-related subjects or for help with a special library search, call Jim Hogan, our library coordinator, at 515-294-9481, or e-mail him at hoganj@iastate.edu.
