Omar Smadi named CTRE director
Smadi takes the reins of the new, streamlined CTRE (now a center under the new Institute for Transportation). Smadi has ably served Iowa State University for about 2 decades in various roles and capacities. Over the past several years he has served as the co-director of the Program for Roadway Infrastructure Management and Operations at CTRE. He is recognized internationally for his work in the areas of transportation asset and infrastructure management. He has significant experience working on numerous research efforts sponsored by federal, state, and local agencies and serving on national level professional committees.
Transportation Focus at Iowa State University Becomes Institute
The Center for Transportation Research and Education, a Regents-approved center at Iowa State University (ISU) since 1996, was recently designated an ISU institute. This new designation leads to a corresponding name change to the Institute for Transportation (shorthand: InTrans), effective March 31, 2009. News release.
