CTRE is an Iowa State University center administered by the Institute for Transportation.

CTRE researchers create new knowledge and practical tools for transportation professionals in the areas of safety, infrastructure management systems, and sustainability. CTRE’s safety research runs the gamut from work zones to safer roadway designs to tools for analyzing crash data. Researchers investigate issues such as energy efficiency and air quality. They also create asset management tools for pavement marking, signs, and bridges for the Iowa Department of Transportation.
