Term Project Prospectus

Due Date: On or before October 9, 2007
On this page, please provide a very brief description of the topic of the
term project you will be working on, including the issue to be analyzed and the
general approach you intend to use in analyzing it. This prospectus is intended
to help you plan your term project, however it must
be handed in to the instructor by Tuesday, October 9, 2007.
Issue or Project to Be Analyzed
Choose and describe below one issue or project. It should be a
transportation policy issue or a project that falls into one of the broad
topics we have covered or will cover during the course of the class, e.g.
safety, environmental impact, quality of life, environmental justice/equity,
etc. If the issue or project is a complex one, it may overlap several topics.
The issue can be from here in Iowa, a regional issue, a national issue, or an
international issue. It should be something you are very interested in and want
to invest serious time and effort on.
General Approach to be Followed and Analytical Technique(s) and Tool(s) Likely to be Employed
Indicate the general approach you will be using in preparing your analysis
of the policy issue or project. Also indicate any analytic methods or tools you
are likely to use in the course of your analysis.
Data Sources Likely to be Used
Describe the data sources that you will likely use in analyzing the issue or
project.
Information Presentation Technique(s) Likely to be Employed
Choose at least two presentation techniques to use in your final
presentation to the class. (You must do an oral presentation, but you may
enhance it by using presentation graphics, a poster, thematic mapping, a
geographic information system layout, tabular data presentation/spreadsheets,
multimedia, photography, a web page, etc...):

A higher quality effort will be expected from teams. Ideally, teams will
involve one graduate student working with an undergraduate student. Teams of
two graduate students are NOT allowed.
