Trip Distribution and Traffic Assignment
Trip distribution is used to determine the directional percentages for
the vehicles entering and leaving the new site location. This should be
based on site location within the community and typical travel patterns
expected for the site. Traffic assignment takes those trip percentages,
and multiplies the output from trip generation for the site to determine
actual roadway volumes associated with the site, and total volumes expected
after building the site.
