Determine Extent
After defining the location, site information and trip generation volumes,
the user needs to identify the extent to which the proposed site will
affect the over operation in the community.
A guideline to follow from the Institute of Traffic Engineers is the the
extent of the study area should include: all site access driveways, adjacent
roadways, and major intersections, plus the first signalized intersection
in each direction from the site up to a distance determined locally. The
ITE study also states that "additional areas may be added based on
development size and specific site or local issues and policy".
It is important to remember that this guide is only that, a guide. For
further questions above and beyind this document, please consult the ITE
Traffic Access and Impact Studies for Site Development reference.
The user should either go back to the Data Elements page or to the Site
Map to continue.
