About the research
Abstract: This project occurred in 2 phases: laboratory evaluation and field verification.
Phase 1 determined how various combinations of cement, fly ash and/or lime in combination with the soils of the geologic formations Navarro and Willis. Variables included soil types, moisture content, mellowing period, mixing/compaction effort, and stabilizer type.
Phase 2 determined from field test sections the in-situ engineering performance properties and the best use of construction equipment and methods to provide a well-compacted and uniform stabilization layer.
