Mathematics Fundamentals Class
Overview
The week of mathematics consists of a general math refresher and the fundamentals of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. The focus is on improving the math skills that technicians need and use on the job. Problems and class examples are typical roadway applications. Class time is devoted to instruction and review, as well as problems in specific math areas.
This is a core course that qualifies for 30 credit hours in the Iowa Roads Scholar program.

Who should attend?
Technicians at the DOT, county and city engineer’s offices, and survey and consulting firms who work at roadway plan development, construction inspection, and materials management would benefit from attending.
Dates and locations
Please see our workshop/conference calendar for current dates. The class is usually offered once per year. It is held at CTRE in Ames (address below, map to CTRE).
Registration and fees
Registration is limited to 20 participants.
Registration fee is $350 and includes class materials, handouts, and engineering problem paper. Make checks payable to Iowa State University.
Students should bring a calculator, engineering scales, triangles and other drafting supplies.
